2011 Summer Student Showcase


Dear Dancers and Parents,

Dance performances are a fun and exciting way for dancers to share their dance accomplishments with family and friends. The Annual Summer Showcase is a very relaxed performance that only lasts approximately an hour and a half. This year I have not decided what our show theme is going to be, I will announce the theme soon! Please read below the requirements that each dancer must fulfill to participate in the Showcase:

1. Dancers enroll in their class(es) for both Summer Session Part 1 and Part 2, and have excellent attendance. Students may not miss either of the two class meetings immediately before the performance week. Students who miss more than two class meetings may not do the performance.

2. Dancers must attend the Rehearsal for their class(es) the week of the show (Aug. 22-25), the Dress Rehearsal on Friday August 26, and both performances on Saturday August 27.

3. Parents/Adult Dancers must help with one of our Tasks. By July 1, take a look at the Task List when you come to class (available June 27) and put your name down for the task you would like to do! Tasks range from helping with an Art Day to helping at a performance by doing admissions or being a backroom helper.

4. A) Dancers purchase their costume(s). Costume deposit of $15 is due by June 24, and the balance is due by July 16. Cash or checks made out to "Dynamic Dancing" and given to me. We try to keep the cost in the $40 or less range. We try to combine a) reusable clothing and dancewear items and b) items that represent the song that the dancers are dancing to. If you are on a tight budget, please let me know!
B) July 16 is Costume Day, between 10:30am and 1pm at the Davis Art Center. Dancers must come to try on costume pieces and/or decorate costume pieces.

5. The following is done by June 24th: 1) Commitment Form is filled out and turned in to me. 2) The Summer Showcase Enrollment Fee, payable at the location where you enrolled for your class(es) is paid. The Enrollment Fee is $25 per dancer, performing with one class. If perfoming with additional classes, add $15 per additional class. (Non-Woodland resident Parks and Rec. students add 20% and Non-member Davis Art Center students add $10).
Late enrollment for the Showcase is only allowed with my permission and there is a $10 late fee. If you decide to participate, ask me for a Commitment Form!

Remember, each group of dancers is a team and needs all of their team members to have a successful "game". Please speak with me if you have any questions about the requirements stated above. With everyone pitching in, everything gets done and a positive experience is had by all!

TECH REHEARSALS: Mon. Aug. 22nd thru Thurs. Aug. 25th held at the theater. Please note, most Tech. rehearsals are for a longer time period than regular class (see below).
DRESS REHEARSAL: Friday, Aug. 26 - 6 to 8pm

TICKET INFORMATION

Adults(18+): $4
Seniors(55+): $2
Children (17 and under): FREE

Each family will receive two Complimentary Tickets.

Tickets will go on sale August 8th and will be available for purchase from both the Woodland Community & Senior Center and the Davis Art Center. The seating is limited to 88 per show, getting your tickets in advanced is recommended.
